In addition, IABC will use a new
online entry system called Award-Sentry, developed by Arkansas-based
Smart Media Consulting. Designed to
be user-friendly, the Gold Quill entry

IABC’s member database, offering a

Research conducted last year among
IABC members and past Gold Quill
entrants showed that the main reason
people enter the Gold Quill Awards
is to build reputation; a significant
majority said the program’s value is in
helping to build personal credibility.
Other reasons include benchmarking work against a global standard of
excellence, and Gold Quill’s value as a
professional development program.

the majority of respondents said that
they were too busy or that putting
together an entry is too time-con-
suming. Respondents called for a
streamlined process, more tools and
information delivered through differ-
ent communication vehicles and chan-
nels, a longer entry period, and the
ability to enter online. A majority said
that a broader offering of divisions and
categories that provide more opportu-

decision to enter Gold Quill.

The Gold Quill Awards are a multifaceted flagship program that supports
all three pillars of IABC’s strategic plan:
career, content and business. It offers
opportunities for recognition and pro-
fessional development, provides con-
tent that contributes to IABC’s body
of knowledge, and generates revenue
that supports our continued ability to
provide member services and benefits.
