It begins at the top, but it does not end there. Great leaders hold
themselves accountable for the outcome of change, but they
know that they can’t do it alone. Your employees can be your
most valuable asset or your most significant barrier. Have you
inspired them to join a collective wisdom that shows the way
to a brighter future? When people have the knowledge, tools,
beliefs and motivation to champion change, there’s no stopping
it. Start the conversation by appreciating what your employees
have to offer, and then show them what they can become.
It’s complicated, but as I think about it, maybe change is sort
of like a diamond. It starts rough, is hard to find and takes some
vision to see how it will be in the end. Then, like the implementation of change, it is skillfully shaped and carefully polished to
become something totally different—something that shines and
endures for years to come.
